17.06.2025 - 09:51The war in Ukraine is giving Europe time to improve its military capabilities, and Poland’s support for Ukraine is not driven by “romantic enthusiasm” but by pragmatic interests.
This said Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, as quoted by TVP.
“The fighting in Ukraine gives Europe time to better prepare for future threats,” the minister explained.
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that Poland doesn’t need gratitude from Ukraine for its military assistance — instead, it seeks mutually beneficial economic partnerships.
“We are counting on partnership. Not unspoken gratitude, but contracts for Polish companies and investments that will help us develop our economy,” he stated.
At the same time, he acknowledged growing war fatigue both in Poland and across Europe:
“Many people are saying, ‘This is not our war.’ That slogan has become increasingly popular in Poland and is gaining more supporters. We are tired of the war. Yes — Poles are tired, Europeans are tired, the world is tired,” Kosiniak-Kamysz concluded.
