November 15, 2023A White House official stated that President Biden is ready to approve the government funding bill from the House if it successfully passes through the Senate. In this scenario, the budget wouldn’t include aid for Ukraine, CNN reported.
“If the Senate approves it, the President is poised to endorse this ongoing resolution, maintaining current funding levels and avoiding detrimental policy clauses,” the official remarked.
Alongside the immediate government funding matter, the official urged House Republicans to abandon “radical, politically biased funding bills” and collaborate with Democrats on annual appropriations bills. Furthermore, they emphasized the necessity for Congress to allocate funds for Israel, Ukraine and border security.
“Looking forward, House Republicans need to cease spending time on extreme, politically biased funding proposals that breach the bipartisan consensus that two-thirds of them supported. Instead, they should promptly collaborate with Democrats on full-year appropriations bills,” the official emphasized. “Additionally, Congress needs to address critical national security and domestic needs, including support for Israel, Ukraine, humanitarian aid, border security, WIC and other crucial priorities backed by bipartisan consensus.”
