November 30, 2023In three regions of Ukraine -Ternopil, Zhytomyr, and Chernivtsi, there are grounds for imposing quarantine due to the outbreak of COVID-19, as reported by Chief Sanitary Doctor Igor Kuzin.
The epidemiological threshold of morbidity has already been exceeded in these areas. More than half of the reported cases and hospitalizations nationwide involve children. The incidence rate has increased by 20% over the week with an average of 4,200 hospitalizations. In the past week, 56 people have died. Currently, Ukraine has identified 14 strains of the COVID virus.
Kuzin mentioned that Ukraine is currently dealing with 13 different strains of COVID. He stressed the importance of vaccination due to the severe worsening of the health situation, particularly during the winter months. Nearly half of the cases involving coronavirus and flu lead to hospitalization with a significant number affecting children. Moreover, specific regions in the western and northern parts of Ukraine have surpassed the epidemic threshold.
He highlighted an average of 4,200 weekly hospitalizations. Presently, coronavirus cases constitute about 35% of all illnesses, with a noticeable weekly rise, especially among children. Instances requiring critical care and resulting in fatalities are also being recorded. In the past week, 56 individuals succumbed to COVID-19, including a child.
