The Kremlin rejects the idea of Western peacekeepers being present in Ukraine
12.05.2025 09:02Debates have flared on social media over the strange behavior of French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in a video filmed in a train compartment during their trip to Kyiv.
In the footage, Macron can be seen making a sharp hand movement, appearing to sweep an object resembling a white bundle off the table.
Online users speculated that the bundle might have contained drugs. They also pointed out an item near Merz that looked like a straw commonly used for drug consumption.
In France, the leader of the “Patriots” party, Florian Philippot, voiced his outrage over the behavior of Macron and the two other European leaders.
“The three war-hungry idiots looked uncomfortable when the camera crew showed up in the middle of their late-night gathering,” he wrote on social media.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova posted the video featuring the three European leaders on her Telegram channel.
“After pushing Zelensky into another hellish intrigue to derail peace efforts and prolong the bloodshed in Europe, it’s like the old joke—a Frenchman, an Englishman, and a German got on a train and… snorted. Apparently to such a degree that they forgot to hide their gear (the little baggie and the spoon) before the journalists arrived. Europe’s fate is being decided by thoroughly dependent placeholders,” she wrote.
Zakharova called the footage from the leaders’ trip to Kyiv “incredible” and said its appearance resembled “pulling back the curtain on this foul orgy.”
“In 2022, I asked a Western ambassador: ‘How can you send weapons to the unstable drug addict Zelensky? He’s been on cocaine for years.’ And the answer was: ‘In the EU that’s quite normal—many Western leaders use [drugs],’” she added.
Political analyst Sergey Markov suggested the bundle may have contained medication for an illness “that Macron doesn’t want people to know about.”
“So what is this secret little packet? Those who dislike Macron say it’s cocaine. Macron remains silent, though dozens of media outlets are discussing it. My opinion—it’s medicine for a condition he doesn’t want publicized,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Psychiatrist and addiction specialist Vasily Shurov told the media the bundle could be “a snotty tissue used after cocaine” or “remnants of a substance.”
“We lacked an explanation for such a sudden visit and the boisterous fun—hugging, head tapping. We saw a spoon for drug use near the Chancellor, some bundle with Macron,” he said.
Shurov noted that the European leaders “at the very least appeared very clearly embarrassed,” calling the situation “at the very least strange.”
Meanwhile, the French publication Libération believes the mysterious items were nothing more than a crumpled napkin and a toothpick, and that they were removed simply to keep them out of the shot.
