January 3, 2024The MPs of Ukraine may not be allowed to leave the country if they haven’t received briefings from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This was stated in an order from the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, an excerpt of which was published by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
As per the document, refusal for a trip can occur if, during a previous international mission, the MP did not receive “official explanations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Ukraine’s foreign policy course” and did not coordinate the key points of their statements with the ministry.
The order came into effect on January 1st. It also mentions that refusal might happen due to violations of the timelines of previous missions, unapproved trips to other countries, and failure to provide reports on prior missions.
