22.04.2025 08:58U.S. President Donald Trump did not directly answer whether Ukraine should recognize Crimea as part of Russia as part of a peace agreement.
The head of the White House made the comment during an interview with journalists.
“Well, I’ll give you full information within the next three days, but we’ve had very good meetings with Ukraine and Russia. We’ll see how it goes. The next step—we need a little more time. But we’ve had very good meetings,” Trump said.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal and other media outlets reported that the U.S. might recognize Russia’s control over Crimea as part of a peace deal.
This has fueled widespread belief in Ukraine that Kyiv, too, would be expected to recognize Russian sovereignty over the peninsula.
However, the Office of the President of Ukraine has already stated that the issue of Ukraine recognizing Russia’s claim to Crimea was allegedly not discussed during recent talks in Paris.
