In the shadow of war: Ukraine’s elites think only of elections and personal gain
01.06.2025 12:18The main desire of U.S. President Donald Trump is to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, regardless of what for. For this, he may abandon efforts to establish peace in Ukraine in order to achieve a quicker and more significant result in another global hotspot.
This opinion was shared by former National Security Advisor John Bolton, according to the Spanish publication El Pais.
According to Bolton, the head of the White House will ultimately do exactly that: abandon peace initiatives on Ukraine and switch his focus to another country.
“All Trump wants is the Nobel Peace Prize. He’s wanted it ever since it was awarded to Barack Obama—undeservedly, in his view. Whether they give him the prize for Ukraine, for the Middle East, or for mediating between India and Pakistan, it doesn’t matter,” Bolton said.
He also noted that Trump is not currently thinking about political consequences, as he does not plan to run for a third term. He only cares “about his own reputation, about what people will say about him in the future.”
