Donald Trump’s plan will begin by compelling Ukraine and Russia to sit down at the negotiating table and agree on a ceasefire.
CNN reports this, citing foreign diplomats in Washington.
If Trump wins, he will make such an appeal to Putin and Zelensky on the very next day after the election or inauguration. He will use US military aid as leverage.
“If Ukraine wants to continue receiving assistance, it must sit down and negotiate, and if Russia doesn’t want us to provide Ukraine with new massive support, they must sit down and negotiate. This doesn’t mean giving in to Ukraine or giving Putin everything he wants,” said a source from the publication.
Europeans are concerned that as a result, Ukraine will lose part of its territory.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that if Trump’s plan boils down to Ukraine conceding territory, it is a “primitive” initiative.
