26.11.2025 - 18:30The son of U.S. President Donald Trump — Donald Trump Jr. — has spoken out in support of U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff after the publication of transcripts of his talks with the Russian side about a peace plan for Ukraine.
He wrote about this on X (formerly Twitter).
“It’s absolutely obvious that almost all of Witkoff’s critics want any peace deal with Ukraine to fail. Enough!” Trump Jr. posted, backing another X user’s comment that the publication of Witkoff’s negotiation records was intended to sabotage a peace agreement on Ukraine.
On 26 November, Bloomberg published two transcripts of conversations:
-
the first, dated 14 October — between Witkoff and presidential aide Yuri Ushakov,
-
the second, dated 29 October — between the Russian president’s special representative Kirill Dmitriev and Ushakov.
According to the agency, the conversation between Ushakov and Witkoff lasted just over five minutes. Trump’s special envoy advised arranging a phone call between the Russian and U.S. presidents before Ukrainian President Zelensky’s visit to Washington, and also outlined how discussion of the peace plan should look.
Dmitriev called Bloomberg’s publication of his conversation with Ushakov a fake. Trump, speaking to reporters, did not deny what was set out in the transcript and said it was “business as usual.” Ushakov stated that Russia does not leak information about confidential conversations and that others are doing this in order to worsen bilateral relations.
