“They will be overwhelmed even more”: Ukrainian courts are already overloaded with citizens’ complaints about draft notices
25.09.2024 14:02The majority of Germans fear that Germany could be drawn into the war in Ukraine, and 41% oppose increased support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU).
These figures were published by *The Times*, citing a study by the Digital Society Institute.
The survey also showed that the majority of Germans surveyed (67%) are dissatisfied with Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government’s policy toward war-torn Ukraine. Only 11% of voters are satisfied with it.
68% of respondents stated that they are concerned or very concerned that Germany may become directly involved in a war in Europe in the coming years.
32% of the study’s participants would like “significantly stronger” support for Ukraine from the EU, while 41% opposed such support.
It’s worth noting that in recent internal German elections, parties advocating against assistance to Ukraine and for negotiations with Russia have been gaining influence.
Last year, surveys showed that one in six Poles and Germans were willing to fight for their country. In Germany, which has a population of 84.4 million, only 17% of respondents expressed a willingness to defend the country in case of a military attack.
