Two years in an emergency state: Kyiv may close the Metro bridge

In Kyiv, there might be a partial closure of the red line of the metro for repairs.

This information announced by Andriy Vytrenko, head of the permanent budget committee of the Kyiv City Council from the “Sluga naroda” party.

An assessment could confirm the emergency condition of the Metro bridge, which has been in a “fatigued” state for at least two years. Funds for its repair were allocated in this year’s budget.

“For two years, no one paid attention to it, we just acknowledged this fact. If the assessment shows that the Metro bridge needs to be closed, funds have already been allocated for the development of project estimates and for the relevant exploratory work,” said Vytrenko.

He regards this scenario as “apocalyptic” because bridges in Kyiv hold strategic importance, including for the operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Therefore, this is a terrible event that could happen at any moment,” noted the deputy.
