Putin’s words about readiness for negotiations on Ukraine have become a threat to Biden
February 11, 2024Ukrainian air defense shoots down one-third fewer “Shaheds” than before. Over the last two months, the proportion of destroyed UAVs has fallen by 33%. This information comes from data collected by analysts at the ‘UA War Infographics’ portal.
In December, the effectiveness of air defense against drones was around 90% or higher. In January, these figures began to decline, reaching 60% in the first week of February.
Among the reasons for the decrease in effectiveness, analysts cite several factors. For example, when one UAV is shot down, others change course. Russian troops conduct additional reconnaissance of Ukrainian air defense positions, and “Shaheds” with jet engines, flying faster (not 180—220 km/h, but 450—600 km/h), have appeared. Additionally, Russian military forces are increasingly using heat traps on missiles that fly alongside UAVs and employing night camouflage (drones are painted black or covered with carbonate).
