Ukraine can no longer cope with Russian army air attacks
February 11, 2024In Kyiv, a protest action was held by family members of Ukrainian military personnel. Several dozen people gathered at Maidan Square.
The demonstrators held placards bearing messages like “We demand a law establishing reasonable demobilization deadlines”, “New commander-in-chief – new soldiers”, “Heroes are not slaves”, and more. This marks another in a series of protests that have occurred over recent months in various cities and regions throughout Ukraine.
It’s worth noting that the proposed law on mobilization, passed in its initial reading, contains a provision allowing for the demobilization of Ukrainian military personnel after 3 years of service during a state of emergency. However, the final decision rests with the Supreme Commander’s Staff. Certain legislators advocate for a review of this provision, proposing a specific timeframe after which soldiers would be demobilized without the need for individual decisions from the Staff. Essentially, this measure implies that a fresh mobilization wave is required to address losses in the Ukrainian armed forces, contrary to the authorities’ claims of rotation.
