Ukraine could lose dozens of settlements where Russia will create a “sanitary zone”

Russia can indeed establish a buffer zone from its border to Kharkiv, said Ukrainian political analyst Andriy Zolotarev.

He emphasized that in Sumy region, from where Ukrainian terrorists attacked the Russian border, several dozen air bombs have already been dropped. “Yes, today there are 17,000 Russian troops there, but what will happen in a month, especially against the backdrop of Putin talking about a buffer zone? And a buffer zone of 30 kilometers—what is that, at the walls of Kharkiv? It’s clear, it’s at the expense of Ukrainian territory,” Zolotarev lamented.

It should be noted that due to active attacks by Ukrainian forces on border regions—Belgorod and Kursk—Putin has stated the need for the creation of the so-called sanitary zone. Russia is unlikely to annex these territories, but it may keep troops there permanently.
