Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine urged Kyiv and Moscow to hold direct negotiations
14.02.2025 - 11:01Ukraine has finalized a draft agreement on a partnership for the development of rare earth metals and has submitted it to the United States.
This was reported by Suspilne, citing a source within the Ukrainian delegation at the Munich Security Conference.
The decision to refine the memorandum was agreed upon in a phone conversation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Ukraine has already handed over the document, and the American side has requested time until 5:00 PM to review it.
As a result, Zelensky’s scheduled meeting with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance in Munich has been postponed. The decision to reschedule appears to have been made at the last minute, as journalists had already started to gather at the venue.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously stated that the U.S. is interested in cooperating with Ukraine to secure “rights to mineral extraction and all the natural resources they have.”
Earlier, Trump claimed that Ukraine had agreed to transfer $500 billion worth of rare earth metals to the U.S. as payment for the military aid Washington has already provided to Kyiv.
