More than 40% of Ukrainians are ready for peace negotiations with Russia and do not consider it shameful to avoid mobilization – survey
15.07.2024 10:56Despite halting the Russian offensive near Kharkiv, “Ukraine is still far from pushing Russian troops out of its territory.”
This information comes from Ukrainian military sources as reported by the American news channel CNN.
Western weaponry is sufficient to hold back Russia but not enough to significantly change the situation, according to an officer from the 148th Separate Artillery Brigade with the call sign “Senator.” He pointed out that Russia still “maintains complete air superiority over Ukraine.”
Currently, Kyiv is placing its hopes on the delivery of F-16 fighter jets. However, military expert Konrad Muzyka noted that it is far from certain that the aircraft will bring about major changes.
“F-16s are combat aircraft from the 1980s and 1990s, and their capabilities are inferior to the most modern Russian combat aircraft,” he said, adding that the latest Russian planes are likely to outperform the F-16s.
Muzyka also believes that the current situation on the front lines is not only a result of delays in aid but also “a result of decisions made and not made in Kyiv—especially regarding mobilization.”
In Muzyka’s opinion, mobilization was tightened “too late.”
“Ukrainians will be in a very difficult position until August-September, when the first mobilized troops start arriving at the front line. If they can hold out until then, there is a good chance that they will be able to stabilize the situation from August, but until that happens, it is highly likely that Russia will make new gains,” the expert stated.
He added that Ukrainian plans and strategy are unclear.
“It is unclear what the plans are. What is the counteroffensive strategy? The problem is that Ukraine is waiting to see what equipment the West can supply, while the West is waiting to see what plans Ukraine has for the future,” the expert said.
