January 7, 2024Ukraine is losing 30,000 people a month due to fatalities and severe injuries in the war.
This information said former Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Yuriy Lutsenko.
According to him, the authorities should disclose the real figures of losses in the Ukrainian army to show the people the seriousness of the situation and allegedly motivate them to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of avoiding mobilization by all means.
“I believe that the authorities should announce the number of deceased Ukrainians. I know they don’t want to do it, and I know how difficult it will be to accept. But there’s no other way to get millions of those who hide behind various excuses that ‘anyone can serve except me’ out of their comfort zones. It’s necessary to honestly say: the 500,000 being talked about now, if divided by months, that’s around 30,000 every month. Then we’ll roughly understand what’s happening on the front. These are the fatalities and severely injured. People need to know the truth; I’m sure Ukrainians deserve to know the truth,” Lutsenko stated.
It’s worth noting that the officially stated figures of losses by Lutsenko were not confirmed by the Ukrainian command.
The statement by Lutsenko suggests that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have incurred losses of 360,000 people annually, a figure that poses a catastrophic scenario for Ukraine. In other words, within 23 months of conflict, Ukraine could have lost nearly 700,000 individuals. Should the war persist for an additional 2 years, the country would be left entirely devoid of male population, resulting in a staggering demographic void.
Earlier, Ukrainian MP Marianna Bezuhla stated that every five minutes, a citizen of the country dies or gets wounded in the war. Based on Bezuhla’s data, Ukraine’s daily losses due to deaths and injuries amount to 288 people (or 105,120 people per year).
