Ukraine is secretly preparing Kyiv for a new city defense

Photos of the construction of defensive fortifications, being built under Kyiv, have appeared on social media. This is a very bad sign because against the backdrop of all the problems the authorities fear a new assault on the capital.

The photos show trenches being dug and positions being fortified. It is difficult to call this good defensive fortification as no special barriers or the like are visible. For comparison, in eastern Ukraine, the defenses were built over several years. This would make it difficult for experienced troops to overcome it. However, building a good defense in just a couple of months is extremely challenging.

Recall that from February to April 2022, Russian troops were stationed near Kyiv, ready to storm the city, but according to agreements in Istanbul, they were withdrawn. Moscow did not say whether it planned to capture Kyiv, but military experts suggest that Russia will attempt it for the second time and will be much better prepared for the operation.
