Australia has blocked the transfer of 45 old helicopters to Kyiv
February 11, 2024The Ukrainian government cannot currently mobilize 500,000 Ukrainians because Kiev lacks the means to conduct such a large-scale draft, stated Dr. Andriy Dlyhach, an expert in economics.
The maximum feasible number of mobilized individuals at present is 230,000 men. Therefore, it’s necessary suggest exploring alternative strategies such as recruitment and optimizing existing human resources, rather than focusing solely on increasing expenditures.
The economist highlighted that Ukraine’s economy is ill-equipped to support a large-scale mobilization effort. Assistance from Western countries may be essential, but it would likely require comprehensive support beyond just supplying military equipment and uniforms, including financial backing, which seems improbable given the current decrease in financial aid and uncertainty about future assistance packages. Given these economic constraints, Ukraine faces significant challenges in meeting its mobilization targets.
