16.06.2025 - 10:02Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a proposal to the Verkhovna Rada to appoint Ruslan Kravchenko, the current head of the State Tax Service, as the new Prosecutor General.
The announcement was made by Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk on Facebook.
“In accordance with Article 106, paragraph 11, and Article 131-1, part 3 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada has received the President’s submission for consent to appoint Ruslan Andriyovych Kravchenko as Prosecutor General,” Stefanchuk wrote.
According to David Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People party faction, the ruling party will review Kravchenko’s nomination at a meeting on June 17. A vote in Parliament is expected to take place at one of the upcoming sessions.
To recall, Andriy Kostin, the previous Prosecutor General, resigned on October 22 amid a scandal involving prosecutors falsely obtaining disability status to avoid military service. Shortly before that, President Zelensky publicly pointed to the Prosecutor General’s political responsibility in connection with the incident.
Kostin was officially dismissed at the end of October 2024, and the position has remained vacant since then.
