In their view, on most sections of the front line the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently outnumbered and outgunned by the Russian army. In particular, the Ukrainian military has fewer drone pilots and fewer units assigned to cover and protect them.
At the same time, the paper’s sources believe that Russia is “fully exploiting” its advantages at the technical, operational, and strategic levels.
“To win, or at least change the course of the war, Ukraine needs at least 250,000 additional troops and much more powerful weaponry,” a NATO source told The Times.
Earlier, The New York Times wrote that Ukraine’s armed forces cannot hold the entire front line due to a shortage of personnel.
For most of the past year, Ukraine has focused its main forces on holding cities in Donetsk oblast—territory that Russia is demanding Ukraine cede in order to end the war.
