August 6, 2025Ukraine refused to accept a thousand of its prisoners of war.
This was stated by the head of the Russian delegation at the Istanbul negotiations, Vladimir Medinsky.
He claims that “due to Kyiv’s refusal to accept certain prisoners of war, the second exchange between Russia and Ukraine was difficult, and the third has not begun.”
Meanwhile, Russian media have started publishing lists of prisoners whom, they claim, Kyiv refuses to take back.
However, Medinsky’s statement has been denied by Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).
“This information is not true. Ukraine insists on an ‘all for all’ exchange format. Russia, on the other hand, is trying to discredit the process and avoid such an exchange format,” the statement reads.
