Russia plans to recruit 400,000 soldiers in 2024
February 16, 2024Work on the mobilization bill is taking too long, says Major Yegor Checherinda of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian army is conducting training, adapting to new challenges and becoming more professional.
“Considering the scale of our country, if we look at the regions and exclude the occupied territories, there are 23 left. 250,000 (needed in the army) — that means about 10,000 people from each region. I think this is the number of people that can be mobilized within a few months. We have a large enough country and enough patriotic, military-eligible people,” Checherinda believes.
At the same time, he notes that being a defender in the country has now become “unfashionable,” which complicates military recruitment. Therefore, in his opinion, mobilization should be strengthened. It is worth reminding that the total abduction and beating of people to send them to the front will only intensify last year’s trend.
