Counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not allow for the complete recovery of lost territories.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milley, in an interview with CNN.
“The offensive, while significant, has operational and tactical objectives that are limited. Even if they are fully achieved, they will not allow for the complete expulsion of Russians, which is a broader strategic goal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,” Milley believes.
At the same time, he refused to specify how much time Ukraine might need to achieve its goals. According to him, it will be a “fairly lengthy” period.
Furthermore, the American general described the current counteroffensive as “prolonged, difficult, and bloody.”
