‘Europe is prepared for Ukraine’s defeat’ – Süddeutsche Zeitun
23.01.2024 06:41Ukraine may run out of funds within a few months and will be compelled to take painful economic measures if it does not receive assistance from the United States or Europe.
The Wall Street Journal reports this based on information from Ukrainian economists and officials.
It is noted that in 2024, Kyiv anticipates a budget deficit of approximately $40 billion, with Ukraine intending to cover $30 billion of this amount through funding from the U.S. and the EU.
Neither Washington nor Brussels has been able to finalize aid packages, while Kyiv urgently needs funds to continue government operations, pay salaries, pensions, and subsidies.
If the U.S. and the EU cease their support, Ukraine’s funds will run out within a few months. This would force Ukraine to resort to painful economic measures.
In the end, according to WSJ, Ukraine might be forced to print money – a move that would lead to an economic collapse similar to the situation in Venezuela.
