Ukraine’s allies have ‘accumulated significant war fatigue’ – Bild

There is growing “war fatigue” among Kyiv’s allies, and an “alarming lack of interest in events in Ukraine,” making the situation for Ukraine even more threatening.

This information reported according to Paul Ronzheimer, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the German publication Bild.

He attributes this to the fact that the “counteroffensive is proving less successful than Ukrainians and the West would have hoped.” He mentions that there have been some small partial successes, but there are currently no signs of a breakthrough toward the Black Sea, and Russian resistance remains significant.

Ronzheimer also notes that the number of casualties is extremely high, including on the Ukrainian side. The military support from the West is not coming to the extent that Ukraine needs for “further major successes.”

Russia has significantly expanded its military production and can produce more in a day than the West, despite sanctions. Therefore, Ronzheimer believes that support is crumbling. He points out that Poland and Hungary were absent from the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Kyiv. There is also a threat of a change in course in the United States, as Republicans are already pressuring for an end to aid. Ronzheimer suggests that if Donald Trump wins the presidential elections, Ukraine’s future is uncertain.

One Ukrainian government representative told Ronzheimer that Ukraine would not engage in negotiations with Russia. However, Austria’s Foreign Minister, Alexander Schallenberg, expressed hope for negotiations.

“Of course, we hope that the logic of negotiations will return very soon – from my point of view, sooner rather than later,” he told Bild.

These sentiments are one of the reasons why Kyiv needs military successes.

“We need further successes by the end of the year to show that we are winning this war,” said a Ukrainian diplomat to Bild.
