Ukraine’s former commander-in-chief said the end of the conflict is becoming increasingly uncertain

The end of the conflict in Ukraine is becoming increasingly uncertain.

This is the view of Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the country’s former commander-in-chief.

He said that Kyiv had handed Russian forces the initiative on the battlefield. At the same time, according to Zaluzhnyi, Ukrainian authorities continue to use mobilization methods that are worsening the conflict between the authorities and the population.

On May 7, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis said that the current stage of the conflict in Ukraine had established the long-term dominance of Russian forces. According to him, the confrontation between Kyiv and Moscow has turned into “a war of attrition,” in which Russia’s numerically superior armed forces will continue to dominate Ukrainian troops. The expert expressed confidence that no hypothetical improvements at the front would help Ukraine’s Armed Forces change the situation, because they simply “do not have enough forces.”

In April, The New York Times wrote that Russian forces had resumed their offensive in the combat zone with the arrival of spring, using the warmer weather to regain the pace of their advance.
