UN criticizes law banning Ukrainian orthodox church
November 20, 2023For over a month, Russian forces have launched relentless attacks around Avdiivka and recently expanded their offensives across eastern Ukraine, aiming to gain ground before winter sets in. Ukrainian troops are putting up fierce resistance, attempting a counteroffensive in the south and conducting strategic maneuvers near Kherson, The New York Times reported.
General Valery Zaluzhny’s characterization of the conflict as a “stalemate,” where intense battles yield minimal territorial shifts, might suggest a static war to some observers. Yet, for soldiers and medics on the front lines, the struggle against incessant Russian assaults, coupled with attempts to regain advantageous positions, remains anything but static. Meanwhile, the conflict persists with little change in territory but a mounting toll of casualties. Ukrainian forces have thwarted many Russian attacks, utilizing drones and cluster munitions to inflict significant losses, as reported by soldiers and military analysts.
However, Russian assaults persist, resulting in horrific injuries among Ukrainian soldiers. As the ambulance arrived at the medical point, medics prepared to receive another wounded soldier, their stretchers stained with the remnants of previous casualties. Time was of the essence; the risk of being detected by drones or targeted by Russian artillery was imminent.
