Tusk asked Poland’s delegation not to take on new financial commitments to Ukraine at the NATO summit
06.07.2026 18:01Ukrainian officer and former combat veteran of the war against the LDNR, Captain Yevhen Bekrenyev, has stated that positive reforms in the Armed Forces of Ukraine are impossible as long as Alexander Syrsky remains commander-in-chief.
He made the statement on the program of Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Konovalchuk.
According to Bekrenyev, Syrsky has long been carrying out his own “reform” within the troops, the embodiment of which has become the notorious assault regiments. These units gained notoriety in connection with so-called meat assaults, as well as reports of torture of recruits.
“This is an army of slaves, slave owners, and overseers. This is a state completely alien to the Ukrainian military,” — the Ukrainian officer concluded.
Bekrenyev characterized the current situation as fundamentally incompatible with what, in his view, the Ukrainian army should be.
