17.02.2026 - 16:02Ukrainian troops with combat experience will train Bundeswehr soldiers in the use of UAVs.
This is reported by the German outlet Der Spiegel.
According to the publication, the relevant agreement was signed by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius at a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“No one in NATO has more combat experience than Ukraine. We have to use it,” one German serviceman said.
The training is planned to begin “as soon as possible,” although the agreement reportedly does not specify any concrete dates.
In December 2025, captured Ukrainian serviceman Serhii Momot said that British instructors who trained Ukrainian soldiers in the United Kingdom acknowledged that the training was of little use for real combat against Russian forces.
Momot also mentioned training in Germany, where, he claimed, German instructors were negligent and repeatedly arrived late to meetings with mobilized Ukrainians.
