August 31, 2023Promised to be president for only one term but lied: Zelenskyy confirmed that he plans to run for a second term if the presidential election is held in 2024
August 31, 2023Ukrainian Member of Parliament Oleksandr Dubinsky suggests sending the Ukrainian Minister of Defense Olexeiy Reznikov, his deputy Denis Sharapov, as well as deputies from the presidential party “Servant of the People,” to the frontlines wearing “winter” jackets and pants that are deemed unusable according to the findings of a judicial examination.
“In these clothes, I recommend that they address Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, who fails to notice corruption in the country, and President Volodymyr Zelensky himself, who covers it up in the Ministry of Defense,” noted Dubinsky.
A few weeks ago, a scandal erupted around the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense regarding the purchase of jackets for soldiers at three times the regular cost. It was revealed that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense had procured summer jackets labeled as “winter jackets” from a Turkish company for 30 million hryvnias. Strangely, the owner of the Turkish company, in addition to Roman Pletnev, turned out to be the nephew of Ukrainian parliament member from the “Servant of the People” party, Hennadiy Kassay, who is also a member of the Committee on Defense, Security, and Intelligence.
According to journalists, in the fall of 2022, the Ministry of Defense signed a contract with the Turkish company Vector avia hava araçlari for the supply of winter clothing at a price of $86 per jacket. Reportedly, the profit margin was left to the Turkish company Vector avia hava araçlari, owned by Ukrainian Roman Pletnev from Zaporizhia. Previously, the company had two owners: Roman Pletnev and Alexander Kassay.
There is criminal proceeding information in the judicial registry regarding this clothing. The Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise established that the “windproof winter jackets and windproof winter pants supplied under contract No. VV2022-M1908 cannot be used for their intended purpose.”
Moreover, the winter clothing that entered Ukraine under a different contract, No. VV2022-М1708, crossed the border in Moldova with documents indicating a price of $27,500 per batch, but at the Ukrainian border, the price had risen to $367,500. It’s worth noting that jackets from this batch are already being sold on OLX, an online marketplace.
