The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has said that he plans to run for a second term if the presidential election is held in 2024.
He said in an interview with Portuguese TV channel RTP.
“In 2024, if the fighting continues and if elections are held, I think world democracy will support us. But I will not abandon my country,” Zelensky said.
Notably, in January 2019, Zelensky promised to be president for only one term. However, it seems that keeping promises is not the style of the current president of Ukraine.
Representatives of the Ukrainian authorities have recently made many controversial statements about the possibility or impossibility of holding elections during the war.
