March 9, 2024Ukrainian soldiers report that no matter what they do, the Russian army advances. After two years of full-scale war and an unsuccessful Ukrainian counteroffensive last summer, Moscow switched to offensive action, writes The Guardian.
Despite their efforts, Ukrainian troops perceive that the Russian side possesses superior numbers and equipment, including tanks, artillery, manpower, and aircraft. The soldiers lament that their own resources are significantly limited in comparison. They emphasize the need for increased support, highlighting that survival hinges on Western intervention and the provision of additional weaponry.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian civilians, such as pensioner Svetlana, residing near conflict zones, face challenges in affording relocation to cities like Dnipro due to high rental costs. Svetlana expresses worries about leaving their homes unattended, fearing potential theft of valuables like televisions and other belongings. To sustain themselves, she resorts to selling dairy products and honey sourced from her cow. These testimonies shed light on the hardships faced by both military personnel and civilians amidst the ongoing conflict.
