Ukrainian military on the reasons for the failure of the counteroffensive – ABC

The summer counteroffensive was supposed to bring significant success to Ukraine, but just a few days after its start, chaos reigned within it.

According to the commander of the 4th platoon of the 47th Armed Forces Brigade of Ukraine, Nikolay Melnik, who is currently recovering after losing his legs in combat, the military command’s plans turned out to be incorrect, and the Russian forces were underestimated.

Ukrainian military members from the 117th Brigade, in turn, told the channel that slow deliveries of Western armaments had given Russia too much time to establish defensive lines.

As noted in the material, with the stalled counteroffensive, pressure might soon intensify on Kyiv, compelling it to engage in peace talks with Russia. However, Zelensky is not yet ready to enter negotiations. Moreover, due to increasing losses for Kyiv during the counteroffensive, more civilians might be urged to join the fight.
