The government wants to raise tariffs for electricity and gas, despite promises not to do so
March 1, 2024A Ukrainian military officer, speaking on a Ukrainian television channel, stated that the authorities are not lowering the conscription age enough; it should be even lower. Currently, the plan is to lower the age from 27 to 25, but this is deemed insufficient.
“I’m glad that they’re finally planning to decrease the conscription age to 25; it’s long overdue, and I would lower it even further. At least to 23. I believe that it’s not only people over 30 who should be fighting. The youth should also be fighting; we all live in this country and everyone has obligations,” the military officer stated.
It is worth noting that the government is not abandoning its plans to mobilize as many Ukrainians as possible to the frontlines and the conscription bill will assist in this endeavor. Furthermore, many military personnel commenting in the media express an even more radical approach – they want conscription from the age of 18, for both women and men.
