November 13, 2023Ukrainian Member of Parliament from the “European Solidarity” faction, Alexey Goncharenko, has announced criminal proceedings against high-ranking Ukrainian military officials.
“This week, there will be procedural actions involving generals. The Bankova (the Office of the President of Ukraine) is making its move,” wrote Goncharenko.
As a reminder, according to BBC, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, and several other generals are under investigation for the “surrender of southern Ukraine.” In October, Time reported, citing sources in the Ukrainian leadership, that one of the “senior generals” responsible for the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be dismissed in the winter.
Recently, there have been numerous reports of a conflict between President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, over disagreements regarding the prospects of the war. There have also been reports of purported presidential ambitions of Zaluzhnyy himself.
The topic of the conflict is actively promoted by deputies from the “European Solidarity” party of Petro Poroshenko, as well as media close to them. The authorities officially deny the existence of a conflict between President Zelensky and Zaluzhnyy. In particular, the head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, denies a rift between Valeriy Zaluzhnyy and Volodymyr Zelensky.
