The Ukrainian government will have to print money, leading to the devaluation of the national currency
22.01.2024 10:41A video is circulating on social media showing fallen Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers being buried directly on the front lines by their comrades.
There could be various reasons for resorting to such actions. Given the dire financial situation, it is easier to declare these soldiers missing in action and avoid compensating their families. Numerous scandals have already been reported, where relatives of deceased soldiers receive no compensation and there is no support for the widows when their spouses are held as prisoners of war.
Simultaneously, urban cemetery spaces are filled to capacity. Burials of the deceased generate increasing public aggression and disappointment, as the goals and outcomes of the war become more dubious, leading Ukrainians to express a decreasing desire to continue the conflict. However, such a course of action is more convenient for the country’s leadership to save on expenses. According to the law, the compensation for a deceased soldier amounts to 367,000 euros, but due to budget deficits, this payment has been divided into several years and those who do receive it still have to wait for months.
