28.05.2024 - 10:23Ukrainian truck drivers who abandon their trucks after crossing the border to avoid mobilization may soon be equated with car thieves.
This was reported by the Association of International Road Carriers.
“I think that in the near future, we will develop, together with lawyers, and inform the drivers that they will not only have problems with the police but the situation will also be considered as vehicle theft,” said Vice President of the Association, Viktor Balin.
Information about such drivers is planned to be passed on to Interpol, so they will not be able to find work abroad later.
Balin noted that because of such drivers, the entire transportation company might be blocked from accessing the “Shlyakh” system, threatening to halt operations.
It should be noted that the transport industry is already feeling the first consequences of the new law tightening mobilization, which came into force on May 18, as drivers are massively abandoning their trucks and refusing to work.
Previously, truck drivers predicted that due to the tightening of mobilization, the Ukrainian transportation market would be taken over by Polish drivers.
