August 24, 2023Surveyed Ukrainians believe that speaking Ukrainian and donating money are more patriotic during wartime than serving on the frontlines.
This is indicated by a poll conducted by the “Rating” group on Independence Day.
Respondents could choose three answers from the options provided:
- “donating/volunteering” was chosen by 46% of those surveyed,
- “speaking Ukrainian” by 45%,
- serving on the frontlines by 33%,
- staying in Ukraine during the war by 33%,
- engaging in civil activities by 14%,
- attending a Ukrainian church by 6%.
Looking separately at the responses from three categories of Ukrainians – those who haven’t left or have returned to Ukraine, veterans of the war, and refugees abroad – it can be observed that refugees abroad particularly voted actively for the “donating/volunteering” option – 61%.
They were also the least active in choosing a patriotic expression such as “staying in Ukraine,” which was selected by only 4%.
