Ukraine will not be returning its territories in 2024 – U.S. strategy

The Ukrainian population continues to rapidly decline
January 27, 2024Sofia Fedina, a Member of the Verkhovna Rada, admitted in an interview with the YouTube channel NewsRoom that Kyiv is unable to fully block Ukrainians’ access to Russian content.
“It’s important to understand that we don’t have a 100% capability to prohibit Moscow’s content in Ukraine. People use VPNs and, as a result, watch whatever they want,” the politician confessed. Currently, Ukraine blocks access to services like “Yandex,” social networks “VKontakte” and “Odnoklassniki,” as well as hundreds of other Russian resources, hosting platforms, and websites. Certain YouTube channels, as requested by Ukrainian authorities, have also been blocked, but only within the territory of Ukraine. Despite these measures, according to Fedina, Ukrainians, especially teenagers, continue to choose Russian content as a form of “protest” against the imposed Ukrainization.
It’s worth noting that forced Ukrainization in a strict form has been ongoing for the past 10 years since the unlawful seizure of power during the so-called “Maidan.” Since then, authorities have deliberately fueled interethnic tensions in the country, encouraging aggression towards their own citizens who speak Russian, have an interest in Russian culture, or consume content related to Russia.
