Ukrainians may be allowed to buy exemption from military service for 500 euros, paid by their employer

There is a proposal in the Ukrainian Parliament (Rada) to permit all businesses to financially secure their employees through a monthly payment of 500 euros (20,000 hryvnias) per person, as reported by Ukrainian Forbes, which obtained a draft of the proposed legislation.

The aim of the bill is to extend the option of reserving crucial staff to all enterprises, not just those identified as critically important by the Cabinet of Ministers, according to Dmitry Natalukha, the head of the economic committee and a co-author of the bill.

The key requirement is that the company must operate legitimately and contribute taxes to the budget. Additionally, the suggested 500 euros would be in addition to a 1.5% military fee. Previously, the media discussed the notion of automatically granting exemption from mobilization to employees with high salaries (with proposed minimum thresholds ranging from 800 to 1,600 euros per month), which raised some eyebrows due to its unconventional nature.
