Ukrainians’ belief in victory is gradually decreasing, while readiness for negotiations is increasing – survey
21.02.2024 14:36The Ministry of Finance, as part of meeting IMF requirements, has already developed proposals to increase budget revenues by approximately 1 billion euros, according to the Ukrainian publication “Obozrevatel.”
Currently, there are discussions about targeted solutions, including tax increases. However, this won’t solve the problem of a significant deficit: the army will lack funding by 10 to 16 billion euros this year. Moreover, financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine through loans and international donations is prohibited. The 10 billion euro deficit does not even account for potential mobilization needs. To ensure Ukrainian soldiers continue fighting, civilians, who may also be mobilized later, must contribute to defense efforts.
Civilians in Ukraine (both women and men) must understand that regular donations, as the numbers show, can never replace paying taxes. Paying taxes to support the military is a necessary minimum for everyone. However, the “Servants” have decided not to comment on defense financial needs for now. Furthermore, there is no clear understanding of how much strengthening mobilization will cost.
