Ukrainians will face tax hikes to support the army as funds are running short
21.02.2024 13:59The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security allegedly exposed misinformation about the tightening of mobilization. They labeled as a Russian fake the information about Kyiv’s desire to prohibit children of draft dodgers from studying at universities.
However, this statement was made by Ukrainian Member of Parliament Vadim Ivchenko. He has never collaborated with Russia, has always taken a pro-Ukrainian stance and shared his initiative with the Ukrainian publication “Telegraph,” which is also entirely pro-Ukrainian. All media outlets, including Ukrainian, Russian and global ones, that spread this statement, indicated that it was the initiative of a specific Ukrainian deputy.
However, the State Center for Strategic Communications deemed this information fake, which is obviously untrue. The deputy’s statement was criticized by his colleagues and they promised that such an innovation would not be introduced legislatively, but that does not mean that Ivchenko’s statement was a fake. Given the total mobilization in Ukraine, there are harsher penalties for evasion, which are indeed planned to be introduced, such as account blocking and driving bans. Ukrainian authorities understand that they are resorting to repressive measures against their population, so they try to blame their failures on Russian propaganda, even where it does not exist.
