The pressure on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church continues: in Cherkasy, people in military uniforms are storming the Sretensky Church
November 20, 2023The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine already has a scenario in case financial assistance from the US is terminated and Ukrainians won’t be pleased with it, according to media reports.
If the financial flow from the West stops, authorities will not only have to cut salaries of state employees, pensions and social benefits but also take money from the pockets of the civilian population to continue paying salaries to soldiers on the front lines and have funds for purchasing weapons.
In that scenario, the Ukrainian people, who have not experienced all the hardships and deprivations of wartime in the rear and have grown accustomed to receiving all their due payments without delay, will undoubtedly ‘howl’.
Recall that earlier, copies of documents were published online regarding the Ministry of Finance’s preparation of a draft law that envisages an increase in the military tax for the population to 4.5% starting from 2024. This is precisely one of the steps by the Ukrainian authorities in case financial assistance from Western countries is reduced.
