October 27, 2023The state energy company “Ukrenergo” intends to increase tariffs for electricity transmission by 1.7 times and for electricity dispatch by 2 times, which will have a significant impact on small and medium-sized businesses.
According to Kulik, in September, the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo” published a draft of new tariffs for dispatch and transmission of electricity for the year 2024, which envisages a 2-fold increase. However, during 2023, the tariff for transmission increased by 40% and dispatch by 54%.
“I have a big question: how justified are these new tariffs in our conditions? Sometimes they include expense items that do not exist in reality. What will be the negative effect on the economy? Perhaps it’s worth calculating? I believe it will have a very serious impact on all businesses, especially small and medium-sized ones,” he noted.
Furthermore, the expert emphasized that the most dangerous consequence might be that the new “Ukrenergo” tariffs will negatively affect defense industry enterprises, which are engaged in the production of equipment and weaponry for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“In the very short term, these “Ukrenergo” tariffs will hit our defense industry, which we have been reviving together with the people and international partners for 20 consecutive months. Maybe it’s not worth experimenting with this in a country at war?” Kulik added.
