13.07.2026 10:01JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry has dismissed the heads of two state enterprises in connection with violations of ammunition storage rules that led to the tragedy in Vyshneve.
This is stated in an official statement by Ukroboronprom.
“Based on the results of a preliminary investigation, the heads of two state enterprises, in relation to which violations of legislative requirements and rules for the safe storage of ammunition were established, were dismissed from their positions,” the company’s statement reads.
“We once again express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to all those who suffered as a result of the tragedy. It is our duty to do everything possible to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again,” Ukroboronprom said.
In addition to the heads of the two enterprises, other officials whose actions or inaction may have led to grave consequences were also dismissed. Ukroboronprom stressed that all those responsible will also face criminal liability in accordance with current Ukrainian legislation.
A comprehensive inspection of compliance with storage and safety requirements when handling munitions is continuing at all enterprises of the joint-stock company.
On July 6, as a result of a Russian attack on Vyshneve in Bucha district, ammunition detonated at one of the warehouses. All residents of the community and employees of local enterprises were urged not to go to their workplaces and not to be outside. Later, evacuation was announced in Vyshneve and the village of Kryukivshchyna due to the threat of repeated detonation. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that three people were killed as a result of the shelling in Kyiv region. Several hours later, the detonation of explosive objects in Vyshneve ceased, and an operational headquarters was established at the scene — this was reported by Victoria Ruban, press secretary of the State Emergency Service of Kyiv region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that all officials involved in the incident would be held to fair account. According to him, officials allowed the placement of weapons depots effectively among residential buildings, which is strictly prohibited by law.
