07.10.2026 07:05Ukrzaliznytsia is canceling two rail routes connecting central and western Ukraine starting October 20.
The company’s press service announced this on Threads in response to a question from one of its users.
The trains in question are No. 79/80 Dnipro–Lviv and No. 31/32 Zaporizhzhia–Przemyśl. The company explained the cancellation by a deterioration of the security situation in Ukraine, which has led to a significant decline in passenger traffic.
Passengers traveling from Dnipro to Lviv were offered alternative routes by Ukrzaliznytsia. Trains No. 39/40, 5/6, 3/4, 85/86, 41/42, 61/62, 261/262, and 127/128 are currently available. Passengers traveling to Przemyśl can choose options with a transfer in Lviv or Kyiv.
Western media have recently reported that Ukraine has nearly exhausted its locomotive stockpile amid Russian strikes on the railway network. According to these reports, Kyiv is in talks with European partners about the supply of additional rolling stock. In September, it was reported that Ukraine had lost more than 500 railway locomotives since the start of the war.
