Demanded bar patrons to shout ‘Glory to Ukraine!’: a member of the Ukrainian delegation at the UN General Assembly got involved in a drunken scandal in New York
September 24, 2023Greed and corruption: The Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration held tenders for road repairs worth almost 3 billion UAH following President Zelensky’s calls not to engage in cobblestone paving
September 24, 2023President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, finds himself in a challenging position, and the reason for this is the dual image he attempts to create for his country in the eyes of the global community.
This is reported by The Spectator.
On one hand, Zelensky positions Ukraine as a victim to secure Western support. On the other hand, he strives to portray the country as the defender of “Europe, the West, and the entire world against Russian evil” while demanding gratitude in return, notes the publication.
This interpretation, in which assistance to Ukraine is presented as an obligation, allows Zelensky to boost morale within his homeland but has caused dissatisfaction among allies. They may genuinely support the country but are seriously annoyed by Kiev “reading them the riot act,” as The Spectator points out.
