‘We are preparing for the worst winter in history’: Kuleba hinted that Kyiv is no longer counting on receiving Taurus

Ukrainians are buying candles and “preparing for the worst winter ever”.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitry Kuleba, in an interview with the German publication Welt.

The minister also implied that Ukraine no longer hopes to receive long-range Taurus missiles from Germany. However, Kyiv wants to at least receive air defense systems.

“We are preparing for the worst winter in history. So, we will close our eyes if we don’t get Taurus but get air defense systems. We are trying to protect our power plants as best as we can. But the Russians are learning,” Kuleba said.

According to the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kyiv is still in negotiations about obtaining German missiles. Kuleba believes that people often forget about the significant shifts that have already occurred in Germany’s stance on arms supplies to Ukraine.

“I don’t think the Chancellor is afraid of Putin. The Taurus issue is not closed for us, and we continue to work on it. Germany has always adhered to very high moral standards, but they do not take into account the huge turn they have already made. Remember the time before February 24, 2022, when people were talking only about friendship with Russia. Today, no one does that anymore,” Kuleba stated.
