February 19, 2024Due to the lack of military assistance from the United States, Ukraine finds itself in a situation of uncertainty and cannot know what will happen in two weeks.
This was stated by the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Olha Stefanishyna, in an interview during the Munich Security Conference.
“We are now hostages of the American discourse regarding financial assistance in Congress. In fact, we find ourselves in a changed reality – a reality of uncertainty. Previously, our partners stood shoulder to shoulder with military support. And now, in this regard, we do not even know what will happen in two weeks. This is an important destabilizing factor. We hope that this will end soon,” said Stefanishyna.
Stefanishyna also noted that clarifying the issue of receiving assistance from the United States is the most important thing at the moment. She emphasized that during the Munich Conference, Europeans worked with Americans on this issue, which was a “strengthening” that should contribute to the adoption of the necessary decision in the US Congress, which Ukraine greatly hopes for.
Recall that during a phone call at the Munich Conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, White House Chief Joe Biden stated that as a result of Congress’s inaction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost Avdiivka.
Meanwhile, as reported by Reuters, Congress will revisit the issue of aid to Ukraine no earlier than mid-March.
